Why undertake work experience?
Experiences of the working world ensure that students have the opportunity to develop and apply the work ready competencies taught in our school curriculum. This opportunity allows students to gain a better understanding of workplace practices, to gain experience in their potential future career path and to build their professional networks. In addition, work experience adds value to future university, apprenticeship or job applications.

Requirements
All Year 10 students are to organise their own placements. When the placement is agreed with the employer, parents are to:
The Careers Team shall then call the placement to confirm all details before the placement commences.
*Payment due is £25 if the consent and Employer Placement Introduction Form are completed before Friday 22nd April 2022, £35 if completed afterwards.

Whilst on placement
Students should complete the work experience placement booklet, to document their learning journey. Their form tutor shall call either the student or employer for a "check in" and confirm that the placement is going well. Your child’s Citizenship teacher shall review the placement booklet upon return to school.
Further details
Due to the changes in the world of work we anticipate that some of the placements will be remote (i.e. not in the employer's place of work). It is the students' responsibility to ensure that they have an adequate workload for the week from their line manager to ensure the experience is as worthwhile as possible.
